Maria was born out of nostalgia for home. Memories, images of femininity, domestication, drama, and labor are transformed into a physicality that calls upon tradition and cultural background. Somewhere between identity and stereotype, this work lands in a Spanglish fight driven by objects, gestures and cumbia. Maria is inspired by and dedicated to the women of her family, especially sus abuelas.
