Interestingly, the music to this piece is based on the sound of water and rocks even though the connection to the geography of the Mississippi River was not explicit in the initial collaborative process of creating this work. My goal sonically was to explore the textural and timbral possibilities of scraping, rubbing, and tapping rocks together while also utilizing field recordings of rain and quick bursts of crashing water to juxtapose these two forces together. Stone and water, the rigid and the flexible, come into contact in this piece to support Rhea's beautiful choreography.
